Ameena Goga is a Chief Specialist Scientist within the Health Systems Research Unit at the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC). She trained as a paediatrician (College of Medicine of South Africa), obtained Masters degrees in Mother and Child Health (Institute of Chid Health, London) and Epidemiology (Columbia University, New York), and a PhD in Paediatrics (University of Pretoria). Her involvement in child health began with Community Paediatrics and the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness Strategy at the South African National Department of Health. More recently she has been the SAMRC PI on the South African PMTCT Evaluation. Her main interests are in preventative medicine, including optimising infant HIV-free survival, breastfeeding and integrative medicine.
