Alex Dubb

Alex Dubb is a Phd student at the Institute for Poverty Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) the University of the Western Cape (UWC), where he completed his Mphil researching the dynamics underpinning the rapid decline of small-scale sugarcane production in the country, with a specific focus on social differentiation among small-scale growers in the Umfolozi region of KwaZulu-Natal. He has also contributed research to the Southern African Sugar Research Network (SASRN) concerning the dynamics underpinning the Northward expansion of formerly South African sugar companies, with a particular focus on Illovo Sugar.
