Adelheid Onyango

Adelheid Onyango is Regional Adviser for Nutrition at the WHO Regional Office for Africa. Dr. Onyango obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education Home Economics from Kenyatta University in Nairobi before pursuing postgraduate studies in Canada, where she obtained MSc and doctoral degrees in nutrition from McGill University. Her research and public health career have focused especially on child growth and nutrition. She contributed significantly to the development, global dissemination and implementation of the WHO Child Growth Standards. Her current passion is to raise awareness about the double burden of malnutrition, and contribute to policy and programmatic options to mitigate the impact of the nutrition transition in Africa.
